AstraZeneca plc (NASDAQ:AZN) on Tuesday said its investigational therapy eneboparatide met the primary endpoint in the Phase 3 CALYPSO trial in adults with chronic hypoparathyroidism, demonstrating statistically significant improvement in calcium control while reducing dependence on supplements.

Hypoparathyroidism is a rare condition in which the parathyroid glands in the neck produce too little parathyroid hormone (PTH), leading to low blood calcium (hypocalcemia) and high phosphorus levels.

Treatment involves calcium and vitamin D supplements.
